Last Day of 3rd Grade

May 23rd was technically the last day of school for the year but Bentley's last day was May 22nd. I cannot believe I now have a 4th grader :( So proud of my first born! We celebrated the last day of school/start of summer by grilling out and having smores and snowcones. Pulled out the Slip 'N Slide and kiddie pool. And to top off the night, popcorn and a movie. Awesome start to the summer!!

Taking Bent to school for the last day of 3rd grade!!

Brody and the squirrel were squaring off ;)

Visiting Gmomma

On May 21st, Gmomma had her open-heart surgery. She had a rough few days but she is doing well at the moment. We went to visit her a few times during her stay. I don't have any pics of her there for obvious reasons but I do have some of the boys and Mimi.

 Notice the Russell Building :)

On the way to UAB Brody was fussing so I gave him a pic of his friend Emma Bess and he stopped crying and strated talking to her. Precious!

Emma Bess and Brody having a conversation ;)

Mimi taking the boys for a ride in the rolling chair :)

Brody Goes to School

Brody was learning all about the letter A.

Brotherly Love

The Rockin' Record Bowl

Recently, Bentley had a class project he had to do. He had to make something using a repurposed item. We chose an old record and turned it into a bowl. We had to put the record in the stove for a couple of minutes. Just enough to melt a little, then we molded it. It was awesome and Bentley did it all except pulling it out of the stove. We like to call it "The Rockin' Record Bowl". He also made a 100!!

BUGS!!!

Recentley Bentley has been collecting bugs. He keeps them in his animal house. We have lightning bugs, caterpillars, and beetles. Oh, the joys of being a mother to boys :)

WATER BALLOONS!!!

We had Clay over again recently and yet again more water play!! Water Balloons this time!!

Sandbox Play

Superheroes Come to Play

We found these superheroes in the attic. They were Bentley's when he was much smaller. Brody wasn't sure about them at first but grew to like them.

Brody's 18-Month Check-up

On May 10th, Brody saw Dr. Farmer for his 18-month check-up. He did great! Of course, once the doctor comes in he runs and hides under the table. He weighs 25lbs. His head is measuring a little big but I say that's why he is soo smart. He has room to hold all that knowledge. His lungs sounded better this visit. He looks great!!

Learning To Spell

Brody got a new toy. It is an ABC magnetic desk. Pretty cool! He loves it!! We practiced spelling his name :)

Mother's Day 2012

May 13th was Mother's Day. Russell was at the Fire Station the night before so he got home around 7am. He walks in with a dozen red roses, cards, and a yummy breakfast! Bentley gave me a precious card he had made and one he had made from Brody. Bentley also made me a hand-painted vase and I LOVE it!! It sits on my kitchen table. We went to church, had a great lunch, then sent to UAB to visit Russell's grandmother who was preparing for open-heart surgery. I absolutely LOVE my boys!! They make life worth living! Here is a poem I found that sums up how i feel...

I Am Your Parent

I am your midnight hug- whether you're a teething baby or a scared toddler or a broken-hearted teen, I'll be there day or night.

I am your helping hand-when you need help climbing up the big slide or building the science project or bringing your own baby into the world, you can count on me.

I am your best friend-whether you're happy or sad, good or bad, joyful or mad, I'll share your joys and sorrows, encourage and guide you, and care enough to always tell you the truth.

I am your example-I'll respect you so you learn to respect, listen so you'll learn to listen, forgive so you'll learn to forgive, show compassion so you'll learn to be kind, and be honest so you'll learn to tell the truth.

I am your safe place-When you fail, when you fall, when you're hurting, come to me, and I'll be here with open arms.

I am your pep squad- When you try, I'll root you on. When you succeed, I'll cheer 'til I'm hoarse. When you fail, I'll hug you close and whisper," One more time."

I am your protector-Whether you're a frightened toddler or a bullied teen, I'm in YOUR corner, gloves on and ready to help you take on the world.

I am your confidant-Whether you're proud of yourself and need to toot your on horn or ashamed and need to confess your mistakes, I'm here to listen and understand.

I am your parent-When I do something wrong I'll admit it. When I'm hurting, I'll let you help. When I'm struggling I won't pretend everything is ok. I'll be real so we can have a real realationship.

As long as I'm alive, you'll always have arms ready to hug you, ears ready to listen to you, and a heart that will never stop loving you.

-Mom

Field Day at Westwood

Friday, May 11th was Bentley's Field Day at Westwood. I volunteered to work a game...it was HOT!!! Teresa Yeatman and I worked the "Musical Water Pans" game. It was played like Musical Chairs BUT there was ice cold water in pans and when the music stops they sit. It was a very busy game for us but super fun for the kids!! Bentley had a blast! I checked him out after Field Day and we went to get yogurt at TCBY. Fun day!

Waterguns!!

Recently Bentley had his cousin Clay over to play. Of course, they always want to play in some sort of water when they are together. This particular day it was waterguns! Afterwards, Clay went to church with us and we enjoyed icecream too!

Bathtime!

Bubba's Boots

Brody always wants to wear whatever shoes of Bentley's are lying around BUT he absolutely enjoys wearing Bentley's boots.

Air Hockey

Bentley bought an Air Hockey table for us to play with. Bentley and I LOVE air hockey. I guess Brody does too!
