After School Detention :(

On May 1st, Bentley had After School Detention. He has NEVER been in trouble for anything major. Just little things like talking and sitting still. Well the week before, Bentley's class was walking to P.E. and someone stepped on the back of his shoe and it came off. He stepped out of line to put it back on and then ran back to his spot in line. A little boy shoved him out of line and told him he couldn't get back in his spot...and kept shoving him and yelling at him. Bentley pushed him back. I was not upset with Bentley at all! The teacher saw what happened and said it wasn't Bentley's fault at all. If after school detention is what he gets for defending himself then so be it. One thing Bentley knows is he better not EVER start trouble or pick on anyone BUT if someone is putting their hands on him inappropriately then you have our permission to do what you have to to be safe. Let me go ahead and say...I HATE FIGHTING!!!!! And I absolutely HATE the thoughts of someone putting their hands on my child in anger!!! Much to my dismay, I realize I cannot be there all the time to make sure my boys are safe and protected so we do tell Bentley to always defend himself. I realize some may not agree with me and that's ok. Bentley "served" his time and we moved on to a new day. So ready for this school year to be over!!
